WineAndFoodWorld.com is the place to find Doug Levy‘s comments about food, wine and travel, focusing on Marin County and the greater San Francisco Bay area. Doug — that’s me — was a reporter for USA Today, United Press International and numerous other media before pursuing a career in health care policy and communications at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.

My love of great food — especially local food — stems largely from my time in college, when I lived in Berkeley’s “Gourmet Ghetto” during its nascent stages. My friends thought it was odd that I’d make my own charcuterie and researched the sources of all my kitchen’s ingredients, but now that’s the norm. I travel around the world enjoying some of the best food and wine, and now I’m happy to have this place to share my thoughts with others — and invite you to share your thoughts here, too. Enjoy!

The fine print/disclosure: Doug’s opinions are his own. He does occasional freelance writing for commercial clients, generally outside of the food/restaurant/wine industries. During 2008, Doug did some writing for The Lark Creek Restaurant Group, which owns and operates some of the top restaurants in the greater Bay Area. Doug visits restaurants anonymously and pays for his meals. He does attend and participate in media or trade wine tastings, for which no fees are charged.
